The Bronze Horseman

Title: The Bronze Horseman
Author:Paullina Simons
Genre:Historical WWII Romance
"Leningrad 1941: the white nights of summer illuminate a city of fallen grandeur whose beautiful palaces and stately avenues speak of a different age, when Leningrad was known as St Petersburg.
Two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha, shares the same bed, living in one room with a brother and parents. It is a hard, impoverished life, yet the Metanovs know many who are not as fortunate as they.
The family routine is shattered on 22 June 1941 when Hitler invates Russia. For the Metanovs, for Leningrad, and for Tatiana, life will never be the same again. On the fateful day, Tatiana meets a brash young officer named Alexander.
Tatiana and her family suffer as Hitler's army advances in Leningrad, and the Russian winter closes in. With bombs falling and the city under siege, Tatiana and Alexander are drawn to each other in an impossible love. It is a love that could tear Tatiana's family apart, a love that carries a secret that could mean death for anyone who hears it.
Confronted on the one hand by Hitler's unstoppable war machine, and on the other by a Soviet system determined to crush the human spirit, Tatiana and Alexander are pittied against the very tide of history, at a turning point in the century that made the modern world." ( This is from Paullina Simon's official web page.)
That book is, without a doubt my favorite..
I mean come on.. Who reads about Alexander and don't fall in love with him? This big handsome soldier who fights with war monsters to save the girl he loves? He's the ideal man, every woman would want by her side.. He's not like Mr Darcy... He is so much more...
Well done to Paullina Simon's the author of The Bronze Horseman.. She done a great job...
PS The Bronze Horseman is trilogy. It starts with The Bronze Horseman, the second book is Tatiana And Alexander/The Bidge To Holly Cross and the third book who completes the trilogy is The Summer Garden. She also edited a book about recipes. It is called Tatiana's Table.

To Have and to Hold by Anne Bennett

Title: To Have And To Hold
Author: Anne Bennett
Genre: WWII Fiction
"Carmel Duffy is the eldest child of a brutal and abusive marriage, and she can't wait to leave home. She's equally determined to have no husband or family of her own-what she wants more than anything is to be a nurse. As soon as she turns eighteen, she heads for Birmingham and begins her training.
However, her resolve is tested when Dr Paul Conolly comes onto her ward.  Gradually he wins her heart, and they agree to marry, both certain that they want no children. but World War Two's year of courage and devastation will change everything. Carmel will find that the future is very different to the one she thought she wanted for so long..."
I liked that book for many things. But the main reasons are:
First of all, I absolutely adore WWII novels. I think that it is the most romantic period of all times.
Second, I love this uncomlicated love that all heroes have  for their heroines. I mean come on, no hurry, no guys who want a girl for one reason only (I think you know what I'm talking about.)
Third, all the heroes are Generals, or RAF pilots or some kind of fighters. ( I like men with uinforms, what can I say?)
Finally, I like those silly girls who's fate isn't so generous with them, but despite all that they have the courage to stand up and be so brave...

Desiree by Anna Maria Selinko

Title: Desiree
Author:AnneMarie Selinko
Genre:Historical Fiction
"To be young In France and in love: fourteen-year-old Desiree can't believe her good fortune. Her fiance, the dashing and ambitius Napoleon Bonaparte, is poised for battlefield success, and no longer will she be just a French merchan'ts daughter. She could not have known the twisting path her role in history would take, nearly breaking her vibrant heart but sweeping her into a life rich in passion and desire."

This one, is one  of my favorite books. It has passion, love, war.. The two men of her life are Napoleon Bonaparte, the great ambitional general who is more in love with his plans for France than with her and theother  one is Jean Battiste Bernadotte who is the founder of the Sweden dynasty. Jean Battiste has confidence in himself, he knows what he wants and he knows how to get it. From Paris, to Anovero and from there to Marienburg, little Desiree came to Stocholm and became Queen of the throne. After she changed her name to Desideria.  With love her only guide, helped her people. She was named Lady of peace.
We read a love story both profound and endearing as Desiree take a part in world history and plays a role she could never imagine she would have.
I suggest you to read it, it will take your breath away..

New Blog

Hello,
Who are you?I'm Olga. I'm from Greece. I will write in english though, because I want to be understood by all readers out there.. and, let's face it greek is dying. The language that everybody learns is english. But, FORGIVE ME  in advance if I write something that isn't correct.
What's  with this blog? This blog-site is about book and music reviewing. That means that I will write here what books I read, if I liked them what music I heard, if I liked it and so on. Obviously I took this idea by the two blogs I like the most, www.thebookvixen.com and www.electrifyingreviews.com (and I'd like to thank personally Alexander Bennett and this gal who writes in the book vixen because they gave me the idea, they inspired me for this blog and it won't be exactly like those sites, so don't worry guys and thank you again. You are doing a great Job.)Oh, I will also post some videos and audios of music I like. Finally I will also write some of my personal work. I am NOT  a writer, I am a musician, but occasionaly I write. But I have to worn you:
For the books I read I'm kind of that gal who thinks that the best ending for a book, for a love story is when the couple don't stay together or when one of them dies(like in Wuthering Hights) but I don't know why all of my stuff came out like Jane Austen's books (no marriage but something close to it.)
Anyway I hope you like this site...
